HireVue alternatives
People look for a HireVue alternative for a handful of reasons: pricing that is quote-only, a video-interview model that does not fit engineering hiring, or a suite that is larger than the problem. Here are five products they land on, and honestly who each one is for.
The short version
If you want published pricing, Ribbon and Metaview publish theirs and HireVue does not. If you want independently audited fairness, HeyMilo publishes monthly third-party bias audits. If you want breadth of pipeline, Fabric covers sourcing through interview. If you want proof an engineer can build the thing, that is what we built Taali for.
Every statement about another product below is a present-tense fact from that company's own public pages, numbered to a source and stamped 20 Aug 2026. Taali is on this list and we have an obvious interest in it, so each entry says plainly who it suits — including the entries that are not us.
The alternatives
Fabric
An end-to-end platform: "Enter your job description. Fabric's AI agents will do sourcing, outreach, screening, scheduling, and interviews for you." It sources from a database it describes as 1.3 billion profiles, lists two-way integrations with ten applicant tracking systems, and displays SOC 2 and ISO 27001 badges. Credit tiers are published at $0, $199, $399 and $499 per month; the interviewer itself is quote-only.[3][4]
Suits teams replacing several point tools at once, who want sourcing and interviewing from the same vendor and can work with a quote for the interviewer.
Does not suit teams whose evaluation problem is technical depth — the published product surface is a pipeline, not a work sample.

HeyMilo
High-volume screening across voice, video, SMS and forms, stated to operate "24/7 in 20+ languages", with scenario-based skill assessments and a cheat-detection product. It publishes an unusually detailed Responsible AI position: per-question scores against recruiter-defined rubrics, candidate quotes with timestamps, explicit candidate AI disclosure with logged and revocable consent, and monthly independent bias audits published on a public dashboard.[5][6]
Suits high-volume and multi-location hiring where every applicant must get the same structured screen, and procurement asks for an independently audited fairness record.
Does not suit teams who want candidates to use AI assistants during evaluation — HeyMilo's cheat detection is designed to flag AI assistance, not score it.

Ribbon
Voice-first automated screening interviews with ranked summaries, stated support for 10+ languages, and a published price list — Growth at $499/mo, Business at $999/mo and Scale at $1,999/mo billed annually. Ribbon states it is SOC 2 Type I certified with Type II in observation, GDPR compliant, and carries an NYC Local Law 144 bias audit last audited 2025.[7][8]
Suits teams who want to automate the first-round conversation, know the cost up front, and start without a sales cycle.
Does not suit roles where a conversation is not sufficient evidence — we found no published statement that candidates write or run code.

Metaview
Recruiter-side agents rather than a candidate assessment: sourcing and outreach, reviewing "every inbound application against your criteria", automatic interview notes and reporting. It states SOC 2 Type II along with GDPR, CCPA, LGPD and PIPEDA, and publishes per-user sourcing pricing at $0, $100 and $300 monthly per user.[9][10]
Suits teams whose bottleneck is recruiter time rather than candidate signal — this is not really a HireVue substitute, and shortlisting it against one usually means two separate problems.
Does not suit anyone looking to replace an assessment; the product does not administer one.

Taali
Ours, so treat this entry accordingly. Taali evaluates engineering candidates by putting them in a real repository in the browser — editor, terminal, running tests — with an AI assistant alongside, and scores how well they use it. Every requirement judgement on a CV report carries quotes checked verbatim against the source document; quotes that cannot be located are dropped and the requirement is marked unknown rather than scored. Aggregation is deterministic and every decision carries its policy basis.
Suits engineering hiring where you have to defend the judgement afterwards, and where how someone works with AI is part of the job.
Does not suit high-volume non-technical hiring, voice screening, sourcing, or anyone who needs SOC 2, ISO 27001 or a published external bias audit today — we have none of those, and the vendors above do.
Frequently asked questions
Why do teams look for a HireVue alternative?
The three reasons we hear most are pricing, fit and scope. HireVue does not publish numeric pricing — its pricing page names an Essential and a Premium package and directs visitors to request a demo. Its assessment model is built around video interviews, game-based assessments and structured tests, which fits high-volume hiring across many job families better than it fits a small engineering team. And for teams hiring a handful of engineers, a full enterprise suite is often larger than the problem.
Which of these publishes pricing?
As of 20 August 2026: Ribbon publishes a full tier list, Metaview publishes per-user sourcing pricing, and Fabric publishes credit tiers while quoting its interviewer custom. HireVue, HeyMilo and Taali do not publish price lists. We would rather say that plainly than imply our own posture is better than it is.
Which one has the strongest published fairness record?
On published, independently verified fairness, HeyMilo — monthly third-party bias audits on a public dashboard, aligned to NYC Local Law 144 and EU AI Act frameworks. HireVue publishes an annually updated AI Explainability Statement and states external adverse-impact auditing. Ribbon states an NYC Local Law 144 audit. Taali publishes a named subprocessor list and audits its own candidate-facing AI disclosure, but has commissioned no external algorithmic audit.
Taali is on this list. How should I read that?
Sceptically, which is why every entry says who it does not suit, including ours. The check on a page like this is not our good intentions — it is that each claim is a fact from that company's own public pages, numbered to a source and dated, so you can go and verify it yourself.
